What Plaso (log2timeline) does

Plaso parses a disk image or set of files with a large collection of parsers (event logs, browser history, file system metadata, registry, application logs) and stores every event with its timestamp. The psort tool then filters and exports the combined timeline for analysis.

Timelines are commonly reviewed in Timesketch, a sister project for collaborative timeline analysis.

Key features

  • Hundreds of parsers and plugins
  • log2timeline, psort and pinfo tools
  • Filtering and tagging of events
  • Export to CSV, JSON and Timesketch
  • Docker images
